I am a radio astronomer focused on short-duration transient events, such as fast radio bursts (FRBs) and neutron-star populations like pulsars and magnetars. My work centres on understanding their emission mechanisms and developing novel software and hardware techniques for their detection, with an emphasis on lowering the cost and complexity of the instruments involved.
I lead the Radio Transients Lab hosted at the Center for Astroengineering at UC Chile, a partner group of the Max Planck Society with active collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy, where we focus on sustainable transformative technologies in radio astronomy.
– 05/2025 Appointed as International fellow from the Chinese Academy of Science’s President (PIFI). Funding for
long-terms visits to the Shanghai Observatory given to scientist with meritorious careers.
– 09/2023 Nominated by the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy to lead a Max Planck Planck Partner
group in Chile focussed on Transformative sustainable technologies for radio astronomy. Awarded by
the Max Planck Society as head of a partner group to start on August 2024.
