The engineering of transportation systems is a diverse discipline that includes topics such as traffic modeling, flows in transportation networks, economics, and econometric models, among others.
The Major in Transport Systems combines training in the basic physical sciences and mathematics with a selected area of specialization: (i) Externalities and Environmental Impacts; (ii) Tools for Analyses and Modeling; (iii) Database Management; or (iv) Specialization in Transport Engineering.
This course will allow students to obtain a general vision of the Major in Transport Systems and the areas of knowledge that are studied.
The graduates of Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a Major in Transport Systems can exercise their profession in the design, operation, and management of transportation systems, as based on knowledge of the fundamentals and principles of engineering transport systems.
“The Major in Transport Systems will integrate you into a discipline that is of ever increasing importance given the enormous, growing volumes of cargo and people that are moved worldwide. Congestion and individual preferences add a significant layer of complexity. The problems that we are interested in require a multidisciplinary approach, due to which, training in other disciplines is valued, such as in urbanism or the social sciences,” Ricardo Giesen Encina.
