Smart, Sustainable, and Resilient Materials for Buildings and Infrastructure

We’re thrilled to announce a call for applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the Department of Construction Engineering and Management at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile—the top-ranked university in Latin America for Civil and Structural Engineering (QS World University Rankings 2025).

This position is part of our broader mission to transform the built environment through cutting-edge research on climate-resilient, carbon-neutral, and smart materials for buildings and infrastructure. The selected researcher will collaborate with leading experts across UC research centers, including the Concrete Innovation Center and the Wood Innovation Center.

Key Details:

  • Focus: Smart, sustainable, and resilient construction materials
  • Duration: 2 years
  • Start Date: Preferably August 2025
  • Stipend: Approx. CLP $1,900,000/month (≈ USD $2,000)
  • Location: Santiago, Chile

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, Physics, or a related field (completed within the last 4 years)
  • Demonstrated research experience with publications in international peer-reviewed journals
  • Excellent communication skills in English (Spanish is a plus)
  • A strong interest in sustainable, climate-adaptive construction
