Abstract
Finite element computation and experimentalvalidation of sloshing in rectangular tanks near the primaryand secondary resonance modes are presented. In particular,2D free-surface evolution is studied. The computationalanalysis is based on solving the Navier-Stokes equations ofincompressible flows with a monolithic solver that includesa stabilized formulation and a Lagrangian tracking techniquefor updating the free surface. The time-dependent behaviorof the numerical and experimental wave heights at differentcontrol points are compared, where the experimental datais collected using ultrasonic sensors and a shake table thatcontrols the motion of the rectangular container.
